By installing a Nanofocus Confocal Microscope, we now have the capacity to measure with high precision 3-dimensional wear tracks and 2D-3D roughness on a wide range of test materials. This dramatically expands our capacity to measure the often low wear rates that we encounter in realistic industrial wear simulations.
We also make this technology available as a contract measurement service, independent of friction and wear projects.
Falex Tribology nv was present at Materials 2016, on 20 and 21 April 2016, in the special theme area on Smart Coatings.
We presented our competences and the TETRA BASALT® N2, our answer to high precision demands of today's tribology and material surface measurements.
Conceived to be modular in manufacturing, this test system can adapt easily to various requirements in surface and coatings testing.
Some application examples of high precision testing were presented at the stand.

Hard Chromium alternative EU project succesfully concluded
This month, we have succesfully concluded our current 'Hardalt' European research project on finding alternatives for the standard Hard Chromium coatings.
Some alternatives, specifically Nickel Phosphorous based coatings with nano-particle strengthening, are showing promising results.
Falex have screened a number of these Ni-P-nanocomposites for a real industrial application with our 50-station parallel wear tester and found specifically 4 good alternatives for dry and lubricating sliding.
